The Hayford Mill was established in 1834 as a wool spinning mill and provided the largest source of employment in Cambusbarron. The Mill at one time was the single largest producer of Tweed in Scotland.

You can still see the original Hayford Mill building at Cambusbarron, although now turned into apartments and houses.

Gillies Hill close to Cambusbarron is a woodland area that houses a variety of rare animals. It is where Robert the Bruce set up camp before the Battle of Bannockburn.
